Don’t Forget Your Seafood!

ShrimpAsparagusFor most of us, adding seafood to our daily diet is a big change, but seafood is your main source of omega 3 fats.  Maintaining a low omega 6/3 fat ratio in your diet is a big part of paleo.  We reduce our omega 6 intake by eliminating grains, but we have to increase our omega 3 intake, too.  Eat salmon whenever it’s available, shrimp on occasion, and that can of sardines is a must!  Read about omega 6/3 imbalance on my Favorite Links page.  A 100g serving of shrimp contains about 400 mg of omega 3, vs. sardines at 1500 mg.  Stir-fry shrimp with your favorite green vegetable and fresh garlic for as part of your bi-weekly meal plan.  Look for wild shrimp as opposed to farm raised and taste the difference!
